Andrea Rubboli, MD, FESC is the Director of the Division of Cardiology, Ospedale S. Maria delle Croci, Ravenna, Italy. After earning cum laude both his MD degree and specialization in Cardiology at the University of Bologna Medical School, Italy, he completed subsequent training at Loyola University of Chicago, IL, USA and University of Linköping, Sweden. He has long been interested in the diagnosis and treatment of thrombotic and thromboembolic diseases, and has pioneered the field of antithrombotic treatment of patients with indication for oral anticoagulation, in particular atrial fibrillation, undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention. On this issue, a substantial scientific contribution (also through national and international collaborations) has been produced, leading to the acquisition of international reputation, constant invitation as faculty member to the most important congresses, and involvement in the development of guidelines/international consensus documents.
