Professor Sophia Zoungas

Prof Sophia Zoungas serves as Executive Director of The George Institute Australia and formerly Head of Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, and leads the School’s Metabolism Ageing and Genomics Division. As Professor of Diabetes, Vascular Health and Ageing, she applies her significant clinical trials experience to lead public good studies like the STAREE trial to explore the use of statins in healthy older Australians. She is a senior endocrinologist with both Monash Health and Alfred Health, is Immediate Past President of the Australian Diabetes Society and Clinical Director of the National Association of Diabetes Centres
