Biography
Johanna is a cardiology higher specialist trainee and PhD research fellow at Queen Mary University of London, based at Barts Heart Centre.
Her research focuses on left ventricular thrombus following acute myocardial infarction, with particular interest in the mechanisms underlying early versus delayed thrombus formation. Her work examines why some thrombi are present at initial presentation while others develop weeks to months later, and explores strategies for prevention that may reduce reliance on long-term anticoagulation.
She also challenges the prevailing assumption that single anticoagulation strategy fits all patients, investigating how differences in underlying aetiology may demand different therapeutic approaches. Her broader interests include the evolving pharmacotherapy and preventative landscape for thrombosis in cardiovascular disease.
