Dr. Navin Suthahar (MD, MSc, PhD, FESC, FHFA) is Assistant Professor in the Department of Cardiology at Erasmus MC (Rotterdam, the Netherlands). He serves as Editorial Consultant for JACC and Editor for BMC Medicine. He obtained his MD in 2008, followed by PG Diplomas in Respiratory Medicine and Cardiology, MSc in Preventative Cardiology, and a PhD in Cardiology. During his doctoral training, he studied the overlapping effects of obesity and sex on HF biomarker profiles, and led a multicenter observational study at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, USA. With a full-time research focus, Dr. Suthahar now leads studies on obesity-related HF, novel HFpEF biotargets, and sex-specific cardiometabolic disease using a multidisciplinary approach. He has published over 80 research items, holds a patent on circulating BMP10 for assessing congestion and pulmonary hypertension, and contributes to EU initiatives, helping shape cardiovascular research agendas across Europe.
