Dr Mriganka Shekhar Chaliha , after completing his professional training from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in 2004 in Chandigarh, India decided to serve at peripheral part of North Eastern India. So he joined back as a registrar in Cardiology , in a government hospital in Assam namely Assam Medical College. He played a huge part in development of both clinical and intervention cardiology in upper Assam. The department grew over the years and National Medical Council approved it to train DM Course in Cardiology. Dr M S Chaliha was promoted to Assistant Professor in 2005, Associate Professor in 2014 and finally to Professor in the year 2022. He assumed the charge of head of the department of Cardiology from April 2022 and now is serving in the same capacity. As a member of the national cardiology body he served for two years as honorary general secretary of Cardiological Society of India (NE Chapter)
