Jill Farrington is Regional Medical Officer, Cardiovascular diseases and Diabetes at the WHO Regional Office for Europe since 2021. Jill has over 30 years’ experience in public health, working internationally for WHO and the World Bank in Europe, Asia and Africa. She began her career with WHO in 1997, in subnational/urban health policy and sustainable development, and was Deputy Head, Centre for Urban Health and Manager, WHO Healthy Cities Network. Before her present post, she was Coordinator, Noncommunicable diseases (NCDs) for eight years and also headed the WHO European Office for the Prevention and Control of NCDs in 2016. Her responsibilities have included integrated NCD policy, NCD investment cases, management of NCDs, and strengthening health systems for better NCD outcomes. She is clinical doctor and accredited specialist in both general practice and public health, with Master’s degrees in Public Health, Business Administration and Development Management.
