Biography
Prof. dr. Isabella Kardys, MD PhD FESC, is a cardiovascular epidemiologist and full professor at the Dept. of Cardiology, Erasmus MC, Rotterdam. She earned her MD at Erasmus MC, an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology at NIHES, and a PhD at Erasmus MC, with research partly conducted at Brigham and Women’s/Harvard Medical School, Boston. She serves as Deputy Editor of European Heart Journal – Digital Health, and is active in several ESC working groups. Her research focuses on acquired cardiovascular disease, emphasizing serial biomarker assessment (blood, imaging, and digital), machine learning, and e-cardiology. Prof. Kardys is PI of several multicenter cohort studies, plays key roles in (inter)national consortia, secures extensive (inter)national funding, and has authored >300 peer-reviewed papers. She has formally supervised >25 PhD candidates and leads a multidisciplinary group of PhD students/post-docs (MDs, health scientists, data scientists) in translational cardiovascular epidemiology.
