Centre de Recherche de Cordeliers, Paris (France)

Dr. Mahmoud Abdellatif is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Department of Cardiology, Medical University of Graz (Austria). In his research, Dr. abdellatif studies the molecular mechanisms of cardiovascular aging to exploit them in the development of effective interventions that extend lifespan and delay late-life chronic diseases, including heart failure. During his PhD, he contributed to discovering the cardioprotective and longevity-promoting effects of spermidine, a natural autophagy-inducer and caloric restriction mimetic. He has received various prestigious awards for his work including, the Sanofi Aventis Prize (2017) and the young investigator award of the ESC Heart Failure Association (Winter Meeting, 2017). Dr. Abdellatif received his education in human medicine and as a nucleus member of the ESC Scientists of Tomorrow (SoT), he is actively involved in the dissemination of basic science amongst young scientists and clinicians.
