Doctor Rainer Kaiser

Rainer Kaiser is an interventional cardiologist and research group leader at LMU University Hospital in Munich, Germany. He studied medicine at Heidelberg University until 2018, with multiple international study visits and terms abroad (Imperial College, Harvard Medical School, Bern University, Lund University). Rainer completed his MD thesis at the University of Cologne (summa cum laude) and subsequently joined the Department of Cardiology at LMU University Hospital in Munich, where he performed his cardiology fellowship from 2019 to 2025 and finished his habilitation in Experimental Cardiology in 2024. His research group investigates the interplay of thrombosis and immunity, with a particular focus on the molecular interplay of platelets and myeloid cells during cardiovascular disease and septic inflammation. Rainer received several scientific awards and, in 2025, received funding for a prestigious Junior Research Group by the Corona Foundation.
