Biography
Lien Desteghe graduated as a Biomedical Scientist from Hasselt University, Belgium. In October 2014, she started a PhD under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Hein Heidbuchel and Prof. Dr. Paul Dendale at the Jessa Hospital in Hasselt. In September 2018, she defended her PhD titled “Towards more integrated care for patients with atrial fibrillation.”
Currently, she works as a postdoctoral researcher at the Antwerp University Hospital and the Jessa Hospital Hasselt. She is also affiliated with both the University of Antwerp and Hasselt University. She is one of the main coordinators of the EHRA-PATHS Horizon 2020 project that is led by ESC and EHRA (https://ehra-paths.eu/).
Areas of interest: atrial fibrillation, integrated care, patient education, oral anticoagulation and adherence, telemedicine and mobile health and risk factor management.
