Professor Alan Pearlman

University of Washington, Seattle (United States of America)

Member of:

European Society of Cardiology

Since his father worked for 37 years for Kodak, it is not surprising that Dr. Pearlman's career has focused on imaging. He is currently an emeritus Professor of Medicine at the University of Washington, where he practiced general cardiology for 40 years. Dr. Pearlman has been very active in the American Society of Echocardiography (ASE), serving as the 10th President of the ASE (1995-7) and as the Editor-in-Chief of JASE (2008-2017). This latter role brought his career full-circle, since while he took pre-medical courses during his undergraduate studies, his major concentration was in English Literature. Early in his career, Dr. Pearlman spent a summer doing research in London. Following his clinical training in Boston and Bethesda, he spent a year doing research at the Hôpital Cardiovasculaire in Lyon. While there, he wrote several papers en Français. He loves keeping in touch with his many European friends and colleagues, and is grateful to able to contribute to the EACVI.
