Dr Anita Saxena completed MBBS from Lady Hardinge, Medical College, New Delhi in 1973 with a brilliant academic career. She did MD (Medicine) and DM in Cardiology from University of Delhi. In 1985, she joined the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi as a faculty and continued there for over 36 years till her superannuation in November 2021 as Dean Academics, Chief of Cardiothoracic Centre and head of the department of Cardiology. She held the position of Vice Chancellor, University of Health Sciences, Rohtak, for a period of three years. Currently she is Executive Director, Fortis Escorts Heart Institute, New Delhi.
Her main contribution has been the advancement of the specialty of Pediatric Cardiology in India. She has published 368 research papers. Her name has appeared in the coveted list of ‘World’s Top 2% Scientists’ published by Elsevier and Stanford University in 2023 and 2024. She is regularly teaching and mentoring students and guiding research.
