Haykal is a cardiologist whose professional path reflects a progression from modest beginnings to practice in one of the busiest medical centers in the country. He was born in Banda Aceh, a region that has long been under-resourced and is widely known for the 2004 tsunami disaster. He pursued medicine with a focused interest in cardiovascular disease, drawn primarily by its clinical complexity and rapid scientific development. In 2018, he completed his training and formally qualified as a cardiologist. Since then, he has been working at Jakarta Heart Center, a high-volume national referral center for cardiovascular care in Indonesia. In addition to clinical work, Haykal has contributed to several academic publications addressing various topics in cardiovascular disease.
