Assistant Professor Thao Nguyen

Thao P. Nguyen, MD PhD is a UCLA Associate Professor of Medicine. She received Ph.D. in Neuroscience and M.D. degrees from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. On completion of Internal Medicine residency at Johns Hopkins and dual fellowships in Cardiology and STAR Postdoctoral Systems Biology at UCLA, she joined UCLA Cardiology faculty. Her scientific expertise in the combined fields of neuroscience, cardiology, ion channelopathies, system biology, biophysics, and electrophysiology provides her with a unique research perspective for multidisciplinary cardiovascular research. Her research program focuses on the contributions of myocardial fibrosis and stress to cardiac arrhythmogenesis, repair, and regeneration in vertebrate models of human cardiac electrophysiology. She publishes in peer-reviewed journals. She serves as scientific reviewer and Vice Chair of the AHA Oversight Advisory Committee for the Arrhythmias & Sudden Cardiac Death Network.
