Since the beginning of his career, Dr. Fragasso's research interests have mainly been based on the functional and metabolic correlates of coronary disease and heart failure. Special interest has been devoted to the understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of myocardial dysfunction and the consequent therapeutic approach to it. In the recent years most investigations have been devoted to the evaluation of metabolic, cellular and functional adaptation of heart failure of different etiologies. More specifically, he has been investigating the functional significance of different metabolic manipulations and therapeutical measures in patients with heart failure. Additionally, special interest is being paid to the identification of specific metabolic phenotypes and the potential therapeutic implications.
Nuclear Cardiology is another field of Dr. Fragasso interest and expertise.
During the years, he has been on-site responsible for several sponsored drug trials .
