Dr. Giancarlo Scognamiglio, MD, PhD, is a Consultant Cardiologist and Head of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Imaging Program at Monaldi Hospital in Naples, Italy. He completed specialized training in cardiac imaging and congenital heart disease and holds EACVI certification in Adult Transesophageal Echocardiography (TOE). Dr. Scognamiglio has authored chapters in five scientific textbooks and has published more than 70 articles in peer-reviewed journals. He serves as Professor of Congenital Heart Disease in the Cardiology Specialty Training Program at the University of Campania “Luigi Vanvitelli” and is the President-Elect of the Adult Congenital Heart Disease Working Group of the European Society of Cardiology for the 2026–2028 term. Outside his professional activities, he enjoys running along the Naples seaside to stay in good physical condition and to set a positive example for his patients.
