Biography
Dr. Umar G. Adamu, MBBS, FMCP, FESC, Cert. Cardiol (Phys) SA, is an Interventional Cardiologist at Charlotte Maxeke Johannesburg Academic Hospital, Johannesburg, South Africa. Dr. Adamu completed his medical training at the Usmanu DanFodiyo University, Sokoto, Nigeria, followed by a Residency at the University of Ilorin/University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital (National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria). He did his Cardiology Fellowship training at the University of the Witwatersrand, CMJAH, Johannesburg, South Africa. His clinical practice focuses on coronary artery disease (ACS and CCS), heart failure diagnosis and therapy, hypertension, cardiovascular risk factor epidemiology, and pericardial diseases. He is a member of several organisations, reviews for several peer-reviewed journals, publishes in both local and international journals, and actively participates in large clinical trials. He is presently doing his PhD in Internal Medicine at the University of Witwatersrand, SA.
