Biography
After graduating and completing his doctorate at Osaka University, Dr. Sakata studied at Brigham and Women's Hospital. In 2004-2012, he worked as the clinical chief of cardiovascular medicine at Osaka University Hospital and managed the Osaka Acute Coronary Insufficiency Study (N=12,000) as an assistant professor. In 2012-2020, he served as the chief for the CHART-2 study, the largest chronic heart failure cohort study in Japan (N=10,217) as an associate professor at Tohoku University. In 2021, he was appointed Director of the Department of Clinical Medicine and Development at the National Cerebral and Cardiovascular Center, Japan. His areas of expertise include clinical trials, observational studies, and genomic and omics studies, focusing on heart failure and cardiac rehabilitation. Since 2024, he is a visiting professor at Osaka University and a board member of the Japanese Heart Failure Society (JHFS) and the Japanese Association of Cardiac Rehabilitation (JACR).
