Theodoros D. Karamitsos is Assistant Professor of Cardiology at AHEPA Hospital - Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His previous post was at the Department of Cardiovascular Medicine in Oxford - UK (2006-2013), where he served as a Consultant Cardiologist and University Research Lecturer. Over the past 15 years, Dr Karamitsos has been devoted to the development and application of CMR particularly pertaining to myocardial viability, stress perfusion-oxygenation techniques and cardiomyopathy imaging. He has authored or co-authored over 150 scientific papers and 20 book chapters, most of them with a primary emphasis on cardiovascular imaging. Dr Karamitsos has been a founding member of the European CMR Exam Board (2011-2018) and President of the Hellenic Cardiological Society working group on cardiovascular imaging techniques (2016-2018). Other interests include non-invasive cardiology with a primary focus on heart failure (Lead Physician for AHEPA Hospital HF Outpatient Clinic).
