Biography
Associate Professor of Internal and Geriatric Medicine at the University of Milan and Chief of the Division of Cardiogeriatric Subacute Care at IRCCS Istituti Clinici Scientifici Maugeri in Milan. Primary research interest relates to the epidemiology, clinical management and treatment of atrial fibrillation (AF) and heart failure and stroke, as the main consequences of AF. Specifically studied how risk factors and chronic comorbidities influence AF, impacting clinical management and increasing the risk of stroke and other major clinical events, contributing to the concept of integrated care for AF patients and the shaping of the ‘Atrial Fibrillation Better Care (ABC) pathway’. Furthermore, developed research about geriatric medicine, particularly how multimorbidity and frailty influence and determine the clinical course of cardiovascular diseases. He published >300 papers, with >9K citations and an H-index of 51.
