Josep Comin-Colet obtained his MD from the University of Barcelona in 1992, trained in internal medicine in the UK from 1993-1994, and received specialist training in cardiology at the Hospital of Bellvitge, Barcelona,Spain, from 1996-2001. He was a visiting faculty at the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health (Baltimore, Maryland, USA) in 2007. He obtained his Ph.D. at the Autonomous University of Barcelona in May 2012. He is currently Clinical Director of the Heart Institute at Bellvitge University Hospital of the Catalan Institute of Health (Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona, Spain), Former Director of the South Metropolitan Barcelona Integrated Heart Failure Program, Professor of Cardiology at the University of Barcelona School of Medicine (Department of Medical Sciences) and Director of the BIO-HEART Cardiovascular Disease Research group at the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL).
