Associate Professor Giovanni G Camici

University of Zurich, Zurich (Switzerland)

Member of:

European Society of Cardiology

Giovanni G Camici is Professor of molecular cardiology at the Medical Faculty of the University of Zurich, Switzerland. He studied biology in London, UK (Queen Mary University), and obtained his PhD from the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. His research focus is on cardiovascular aging and age-related cardiovascular disease with particular emphasis on vascular dysfunction, arterial thrombosis and stroke. One of the working hypothesis of the research team led by Prof. Camici, is that the same pathways mediating aging are also intrinsically involved in the pathophysiology of age-related cardiovascular disease with inflammation playing a crucial role. Throughout his career, Prof Camici has won several national/international awards including the "Cardiovascular Biology Award" of the Swiss Society of Cardiology, the "Research Prize" of the Swiss Heart Foundation and the "Outstanding Achievement Award" of the European Society of Cardiology, Council on Basic Cardiovascular Science.
