Gunnar Gislason is a professor of cardiology at the University of Copenhagen and the Chief Medical Science Officer of the Danish Heart Foundation. His main research focus is the epidemiology, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease based on large-scale registries and randomized clinical trials. There is focus on drug-safety and drug-drug interactions, compliance, cardiac arrest as well as cardiovascular complications related to diabetes and metabolic disease. Dr. Gislason heads two research groups at the Danish Heart Foundation and the Copenhagen University Hospital Herlev- Gentofte, respectively, comprising more than 50 active researchers and an annual funding exceeding €2.5 million. Dr. Gislason is the author of more than 800 peer-reviewed scientific papers and his research groups publishes more than 120 scientific papers annually. Dr. Gislason has a major role in structuring and developing nationwide cardiovascular registries in Denmark.
