Dr Petra Nijst MD, Ph.D is a cardiologist in Ziekenhuis Oost Limburg Genk, Belgium with a special interest in heart failure, cardiorenal interactions and cardio-oncology. She is an EHRA certified cardiac device specialist. Dr Nijst is trained at the Catholic University Leuven in Belgium and followed a Post Graduate Course in Heart Failure at the University of Zurich, Switzerland (2016-2017). She did a fellowship in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology (2019 – 2020) in the Cleveland Clinic, Ohio, US. Dr Nijst has conducted translational and basic research in the field of neurohumoral and hemodynamic alterations in heart failure. She is a board member of the Belgian Working Group on Heart Failure. She is a member of the steering committee of the ADVOR (Acetazolamide in decompensated heart failure with volume overload) trial. Dr Nijst has published over 50 peer-reviewed papers. She received the Young Investigator award at the Annual HFA Congress in Paris in 2017.
