Biography
Trained in Czechoslovakia (the Charles University) , USA and moved to the UK in 1995. Subspecialised in interventional cardiology, one of the structural interventions pioneers (performed the first TAVI procedure in the UK in January 2007), active in the field of coronary and structural interventions. The NHS service UK the National Innovator in 2009. Active in the ESC bodies, first the valve council board member, currently the Immediate Past Chair of the Stroke Council. Contributed to several guidelines and position statements eg Stroke and percutaneous structural interventions. Active in specialist teaching, training, proctoring around the world. actively performing coronary, structural valvular and stroke related interventions. Research concentrated in novel percutaneous cardiac interventions replacing open heart surgery.
