Pieter Vriesendorp is an interventional cardiologist at Maastricht UMC+ in the Netherlands, and the clinical director structural heart interventions. He studied medicine at KU Leuven in Belgium, and graduated with cum laude in 2011. He completed his cardiology specialist training at the renowned Erasmus MC Thoraxcenter in Rotterdam, the Netherlands in March 2020, and obtained his PhD in cardiology in 2016 under supervision of prof. Felix Zijlstra at the same institution. After his specialist training he completed a fellowship Interventional and Structural Cardiology at The Alfred hospital in Melbourne, Australia under supervision of professor Tony Walton. His research interests are valvular heart disease, interventional cardiology and health economics. For the latter, he finished an MSc in Health Economics, Outcomes and Management at LSE London, United Kingdom in 2020. Outside of work, he is an avid traveler, loves his family, backcountry skiing, diving, and surfing.
