Professor Janina Stępińska, MD, PhD, FESC is a Head of the Departement of Intensive Cardiac Therapy. Previously, she was Head of the Valvular Heart Dpt. Her main areas of research interest are intensive cardiac care, acute coronary syndromes, acute heart failure, anticoagulation, antiplatelet and antithrombotic therapy, valvular heart disease and infective endocarditis. She is author or co-author of more than 200 peer-reviewed papers. Prof. Stepinska was the co-author of ESC Guidelines on the management of Valvular heart disease and Guidelines on Heart Failure (2012) and Acute and Chronic Heart Failure. Reviewer of Guidelines on Management of Atrial Fibrillation (2010), Guidelines for preoperative cardiac risk assessment and perioperative cardiac management in non-cardiac surgery, Valvular heart disease (2017). Prof. Stepinska was the President of the Polish Cardiac Society (2011-2013). She has been an ESC Acute Cardiac Care Association Board member (2014–2018).
