Prof. Dr. Wolfgang-Michael Franz is medical director and member of the management board of SHL-Telemedizin GmbH in Munich, Germany. Prior to joining SHL, he held the chair of cardiology and angiology at the University of Innsbruck (MUI, 2013-2017) and the clinical faculty position (C3) at Ludwig-Maximilians-University (LMU, 2001-2013) in the department of cardiology, pneumology and nephrology. His research examined cardiovascular regeneration, stem cells in heart failure. In his current work, he develops telemedicine in diagnostic and treatment with a focus on chronic heart failure (CHF) and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). His research has been published in The Lancet, Nature Cell Biology, Cell Stem Cell, Stem cell, European Heart Journal, JACC and in various book chapters. He served as a political advisor in biotechnology and stem cell research on national (Deutscher Bundestag) and international (EU) level. He his currently member of the Munich Center for Ethics at LMU.
