
Professor Francis Bessiere

Biography
Francis Bessière is Professor of Cardiology and Head of the Rhythmology Department at the Louis Pradel Cardiovascular Hospital in Lyon, France.
He trained in adult and pediatric cardiac electrophysiology at the Montreal Heart Institute and CHU Sainte-Justine (University of Montreal, Canada) before joining the INSERM LabTAU research laboratory, where he developed ultrasound-based approaches for cardiac arrhythmia mapping and treatment. He subsequently completed an observational fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. He currently leads the pediatric and congenital electrophysiology program in Lyon.
His research focuses on innovative therapies for complex cardiac arrhythmias, particularly in pediatric and congenital heart disease, with a strong emphasis on therapeutic ultrasound, advanced cardiac imaging, and patient-specific digital twin and computational simulation technologies.
