Biography
Dr Bernard Iung qualified as cardiologist in 1990 and has a Master of biostatistics and epidemiology. He has been cardiologist in Tenon Hospital (Paris, France) from 1990 to 1999 and in Bichat Hospital since1999, and Professor of Cardiology at Université de Paris since 2001. His main field of interest is valvular heart disease. His publications are in particular related to the analysis of the results of percutaneous mitral commissurotomy and transcatheter aortic valve implantation, infective endocarditis and the evaluation of practices in French and European registries.
Dr Iung has been board member (2002-2014 and since 2020) and is President the French Society of Cardiology since January 2024. He chaired the Working Group on valvular heart disease of the ESC from 2012 to 2014. Dr Iung has been elected as ESC Board member (Councillor, 2018-2020) and is Board member since 2022 as chairman of the ESC Registry Committe.
