Biography
Franz-Josef Neumann studied medicine at the Universities of Aachen and London. In 1981-1982 he held a postdoctoral position in Physiology at the University of Aachen. He later undertook a clinical appointment at the Department of Cardiology, University of Heidelberg. In 1992, he moved to the First Department of Medicine at the University of Munich (TU) and became head of catheterisation laboratory and senior staff physician. He was appointed associate Professor of Cardiology in 1996. In October 2001, Professor Neumann became the Medical Director and Chairman of the Heart Centre Bad Krozingen and was affiliated with the University of Freiburg as Honorary Professor in Mai 2002. Since April 2012, he has been chairing the Division of Cardiology and Angiology II of the newly founded University Heart Centre Freiburg · Bad Krozingen and was appointed as endowed Professor of Internal Medicine/Cardio-Vascular Diseases (W3) of the University of Freiburg in April 2014.
