Biography
Prof. Ponikowski is the Director of the Institute of Heart Diseases at University Hospital and rector of Wroclaw Medical University, Poland. He serves as Member of the Board of the Heart Failure Association of the ESC (2004-); in 2010-2012 he served as the President of the Heart Failure Association, former President of Polish Cardiac Society. He has been involved in the development of several guidelines on the management of cardiovascular diseases edited by the ESC as the member of the ESC Committee for Practice Guidelines and was the Chair of the 2016 ESC Heart Failure Guidelines. Prof. Ponikowski is an advisor and consultant for a range of pharmaceutical companies and has been a member of the international steering/executive committees of randomized clinical trials, His main research interest focuses on heart failure. Co-author of more than 1100 peer-reviewed papers with citations: >240000, h-index=174; selected among Highly Cited Researchers by Thomson Reuters 2016-2023.
