Matthias G. Friedrich earned his MD at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen/Nuernberg, Germany. He completed his training as an internist and cardiologist at the Charité University Medicine Center, Humboldt University in Berlin. He is Professor of Medicine in the departments of Medicine and Diagnostic Radiology of McGill University in Montreal and Chief, Cardiovascular Imaging at the McGill University Health Centre. He is interested in new approaches for better diagnosing cardiovascular disease using Cardiovascular MRI, specifically in myocardial inflammation and coronary vascular function. He is a member of international writing groups, editorial boards, and grant review committees in Europe and North America. He is actively involved in developing solutions for advanced cardiac imaging post-processing and evaluation. Dr. Friedrich was the Founding President of the Canadian Society for Cardiovascular MR and President of the Society for Cardiovascular MR (SCMR).
