Biography
Professor of Cardiology (University of Edinburgh) British Heart Foundation Professor (both Emeritus). Research activities include mechanisms and manifestations of thrombosis and coronary artery disease. Responsible for leading national and international trials on coronary artery disease including RITA-3 trial and GRACE. Co-Chair of large randomised trials including COMPASS, ROCKET, CHARISMA, CURE. Author of more than 700 peer reviewed publications. H index Web of Science/Scopus June 2017: 106, Google Scholar Feb 2020): H index 145. Thompson Reuters Listed as one of the top 1% of scientists “the World’s Most Influential Scientific Minds” American College of Cardiology Congress 2015: Honoured as one of four “Legends of Cardiology 2015” American Heart Association: Paul Dudley White Lecture 2015 Queen's anniversary Award to his CV Group Edinburgh 2016 ESC Silver medal 2010, ESC Gold Medal 2015
