Biography
Dr. Maka Gegenava is an experienced clinician, researcher and educator. She earned both her MD and PhD degrees from Tbilisi State Medical University. Throughout her career, she has gained valuable clinical experience at leading medical centers across Europe (Spain, Germany, and the Netherlands) as well as in the USA at Cleveland Clinic (Ohio) and in the United Kingdom in Liverpool.
Her scientific work is primarily focused on cardiovascular research. Dr. Gegenava has delivered numerous presentations at international congresses and has published extensively in high-impact international journals.
She completed a 2.5-year clinical/research fellowship at Leiden University Medical Center (Leiden, the Netherlands), where she studied cardiovascular involvement in connective tissue disorders. In addition, she completed a one-year clinical/research fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), USA.
Dr. Gegenava is the recipient of numerous international awards.
