Stefano Savonitto, MD, FESC, is Director of Cardiology at Manzoni Hospital in Lecco, Italy. He received his medical degree, specialty in Cardiology and in Clinical Pharmacology from the University of Milan. He completed internship in Cardiology at Udine General Hospital, and in Pediatric Cardiology at Niguarda Hospital, Milan. He spent 20 years as staff cardiologist at Niguarda Hospital in Milan, before becoming chief of Cardiology at Santa Maria Nuova Hospital in Reggio Emilia and, currently, at Manzoni Hospital. He has been involved as member of the steering committee and national coordinator in a number of clinical trials mainly related to the treatment of chronic and acute coronary disease. He also coordinated some of the Italian registries in ACS and PCI. His current main research interest is ACS in the elderly. Dr. Savonitto has authored numerous papers in peer-reviewed medical journals. He is also Author and Editor of 6 books in cardiovascular therapeutics.
