Biography
Professor Christos Lionis, MD, PhD, FRCGP(Hon), FESC, FWONCA, is a physician and internationally distinguished leader in primary care and public health. He served as Professor of General Practice and Primary Health Care at the University of Crete from 1995 to 2022 and was appointed Professor Emeritus in 2023. He also operates as Co-Head of the newly established WHO Collaborating Center at the School of Medicine, University of Crete. Christos Lionis is also serving as Professor of Primary Care and Public Health at the Department of Psychology, University of Limassol, Cyprus. His many distinctions include honorary fellowships and recognitions from major international medical organizations, including the Royal College of General Practitioners, WONCA, and the European Society of Cardiology. With 492 PubMed-indexed publications, an h-index of 72, and 50,936 citations on Google Scholar as of 13 April 2026,
