Doctor Esther Gonzalez Lopez

Dr Gonzalez-Lopez trained as a specialist in Cardiology at Hospital Puerta de Hierro Majadahonda (HUPHM) in Madrid, with her doctoral thesis on imaging techniques in transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis. "Wild-type transthyretin amyloidosis as a cause of heart failure with preserved ejection fraction" (Eur Heart J. 2015) was part of it and it was awarded Dr Cardeñosa Research Prize of the Royal Academy of Medicine for the best published work in Cardiology in Spain in 2015. She has also worked at the National Centre of Cardiovascular Research (CNIC) in Madrid, as a Research fellow in the Cardiac Amyloidosis Program at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston and as Consultant Cardiologist at the National Amyloidosis Centre (NAC) in London. Dr Gonzalez-Lopez is currently working at HUPHM with a Juan Rodés grant, with shared dedication between the Cardiac imaging unit and the Inherited Cardiac Diseases Unit, with a special interest on transthyretin cardiac amyloidosis.
