He studied at the School of Medicine in Zagreb and graduated in 1972 when he was twenty-four years old. He passed a specialty exam in Internal Medicine in 1978. From 1979 to 2013 he was employed at the Institute for Cardiovascular Diseases of the Clinic for Internal Diseases of the University Hospital "Sister of Mercy " in Zagreb. In early January 1999. he became the Chief of Coronary Care Unit until retirement. From 2006 to 2010 he also performed the function as Acting Chief of the Laboratory for Invasive Diagnostics and Cardiac Catheterization. He received a Master's degree in 1983. by the Thesis " Use of vasodilators in the treatment of refractory cardiac decompensation" and received a doctoral degree in 1988 by" Differential treatment of congestive cardiomyopathy" In 2002. he became a member "Fellow of the European Society of Cardiology".
