Biography
Helena-Diotima Michalopoulou, MD, PhD, MSc, is a cardiologist with subspecialty certification in Intensive Care Medicine and expertise in cardio-oncology, hypertension, heart failure, thrombosis, and cardiovascular imaging. In 2012, she established the Cardio-Oncology Clinic at Metaxa Cancer Hospital, introducing a multidisciplinary approach to cardiovascular management in oncology patients. Since 2021, she has worked at the 3rd University Cardiology Clinic of Sotiria Hospital, while since 2024 she is Director of Cardiology and Head of the Cardio-Oncology Unit at Laiko General Hospital in Athens. Since 2026, she is President of the Cardio-Oncology Working Group of the Hellenic Society of Cardiology. Her publications in the European Heart Journal and the Journal of Hypertension address cardiotoxicity, hypertension, thrombosis, cardiovascular pharmacology, and cardiovascular meta-analysis. Beyond medicine, she is deeply devoted to Wagnerian opera, classical ballet, and alpine skiing.
