Biography
Nigussie Bogale, MD, PhD, FESC, is Associate Professor of Cardiology at the University of Bergen and consultant cardiologist in invasive and structural cardiology at Haukeland University Hospital, Norway. He graduated from the University of Bergen in 1999, completed his PhD in 2011, and became a Fellow of the ESC in 2010. His expertise includes interventional cardiology, structural heart disease, TAVR, rheumatic mitral stenosis, heart failure and spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD). His research focuses on structural interventions, rheumatic heart disease, innovative percutaneous mitral treatment, SCAD and cardiovascular outcomes. In 2014, he co-initiated a Norwegian-Ethiopian cardiovascular collaboration combining advanced patient care, training, research and capacity building. He founded the Nordic Cardiac Foundation in 2025 to expand sustainable cardiovascular care and education. He speaks Norwegian, English and Amharic and enjoys hiking.
