Professor Basil S Lewis

Professor Basil Lewis is Co-Chairperson of the Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy Committee of the HFA. He is a Past President of the Israel Heart Society and was the founding Chair of the Israel Working Group on Heart Failure. Professor Lewis obtained his medical degrees from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa (MBBCh; MD) and undertook post-graduate training at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles CA, USA. His current scientific interest focuses on the conduct, practice, and teaching of clinical trials, especially in the fields of heart failure, acute coronary syndromes, antithrombotic drugs, and cardiometabolic diseases. Professor Lewis is based in Haifa, Israel at the Ruth and Bruce Rappaport School of Medicine of the Technion-Israel Institute of Technology.
