Biography
Dr Elena Surkova is experienced cardiologist specialising in cardiovascular imaging. She has successfully combined clinical and research work, completed her PhD in cardiology and cardiovascular surgery and was involved in development of relevant national guidelines. She participated and led on national and international research projects including those funded through EACVI and ESC grants and got advanced training in cardiovascular imaging in University of Padua (Italy), Medical University of Vienna (Austria) and Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals (UK). She also has a MSc degree in Health Economics from LSE. Dr Surkova is a UK GMC registered cardiologist and currently works as a Senior Medical Director at AstraZeneca and Honorary Consultant Cardiologist at Royal Brompton and Harefield Hospitals (UK) closely collaborating with academic, research and industrial organizations across Europe and beyond. She has co-authored >50 publications in peer-reviewed journals and book chapters.
