Johann Bauersachs is Full Professor and Head of the Department of Cardiology and Angiology at Hannover Medical School. He is ESC and HFA Fellow, Chair of the HFA Committee on Peripartum Cardiomyopathies (PPCM), and Co-Chair of the worldwide EORP Registry on PPCM. He is Speaker of the DFG-Clinical Research Group (KFO) 311 “(Pre-) terminal heart and lung failure - mechanical unloading and repair”. J. Bauersachs is an interventional cardiologist with special interests in ACS, left ventricular healing and remodelling, acute and chronic heart failure. He is particularly interested in the pathophysiology and treatment of PPCM, in aldosterone and MR-mediated mechanisms, and in the role of non-coding RNAs. J. Bauersachs is Principal Investigator of HF-REVERT (Phase 2 study to assess the microRNA inhibitor CDR132L in patients after myocardial infarction), and Study Chair of the DIGIT-HF study investigating the effect of Digitoxin on morbidity/mortality in advanced heart failure.
