Associate Professor Ahmed Ibrahim

Ahmed Ibrahim is Associate Professor of Cardiology at Cedars-Sinai's Smidt Heart Institute and Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of California, Los Angeles. He hails from Los Angeles and completed his bachelors degrees in Molecular Biology and Chemistry at UC Irvine, and Masters in Public Health from UC Davis. He later completed his doctorate in Biomedical Sciences and Translational Medicine at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. His current research focuses on extracellular vesicles, nano-sized lipid particles secreted by nearly all cells and (as such) present in all biological fluids. Mounting evidence points to these paracrine signals as central mediators of injury, healing, and homeostasis. Ahmed is particularly interested in the role of diverse EV cargo such as small RNAs and their signaling in the context of tissue repair in disease indications.
