Professor Annegret Hannawa

Prof. Dr. Annegret F. Hannawa is Professor of Communication at the Università della Svizzera italiana (USI), where she directs the Center for Healthcare Quality and Safety (CAHQS). She also serves as Associate Faculty at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and as President of the European Institute for Safe Communication (EISCOM). Her research focuses on communication as a fundamental determinant of safety and organizational resilience. She developed the SACCIA Safe Communication framework, an evidence-based model that has informed safe communication initiatives across healthcare and other high-risk industries worldwide. She has received numerous international awards for her interdisciplinary scientific contributions and is a frequent keynote speaker at leading international scientific and clinical conferences. Outside academia, she enjoys spending time with her family, hiking in the Swiss Alps, and encouraging young people to pursue careers in science.
