Mr Tobias Wiesenthal

Tobias Wiesenthal is Head of the Unit ‘Digital Health’ (JRC.F.7) at the Health and Food Directorate of the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre. The unit carries out research on the use of data and computational tools, notably Artificial Intelligence, for improving health outcomes and enhance preparedness to health threats, supporting related EU policies. He previously worked at the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Communications Networks, Content and Technology as Deputy Head of Unit CNECT.C.1 ‘Open Science and Digital Modelling’, and as Head of Sector for research and innovation in CNECT.H.3 ‘eHealth, Well-Being and Ageing’. In his earlier career Tobias worked at the Joint Research Centre, the European Environment Agency and the German Advisory Council on the Environment on quantitative policy analysis in energy and environment. Tobias holds a degree in physics.
