
Professor Michaela Lucas

Biography
Clinical Professor Michaela Lucas is a practicing Clinical Immunologist and Immunopathologist in Perth, Western Australia. She works clinically across two tertiary hospitals and the University of Western Australia where she leads a multi-disciplinary research team.
Trained in Germany, she received a Marie Curie TMR Research Fellowship and completed a postdoctoral position at Oxford, pioneering research on liver T-cell immunology. With 200 peer-reviewed papers, her work focuses broadly on immune responses and inflammation triggered by non-infectious stimuli. She has led multiple clinical research trials and is the principal investigator of the ongoing Plastic Exposure Reduction Transforms Health (PERTH) trials. A WA Women’s Hall of Fame inductee, she is a Australian leader in Clinical Immunology, including key roles in the National Allergy Council and National Allergy Centre of Excellence and past presidency of the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy (ASCIA).
