Biography
Dr Laura Ormesher is an NIHR Academic Clinical Lecturer and ST7 in Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Manchester. Her clinical and academic work focuses on improving maternal health outcomes, particularly in the areas of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, cardiovascular disease, and postnatal care. Laura's research spans cardiovascular imaging, pre-clinical models, observational cohorts, and interventional trials during and after pregnancy. She is particularly interested in how pregnancy complications can act as early indicators of future cardiometabolic risk and the potential to use this window to implement preventative care strategies. Recognising that pregnancy is often a woman’s first significant interaction with the healthcare system, Laura is committed to addressing healthcare inequalities by embedding preventative medicine into routine postnatal care. She recently established the INSITE clinic, a novel postnatal research clinic for women with preterm pre-eclampsia.
