Biography
Kaspars Megnis, PhD, is a researcher and Head of the Molecular Genetics Laboratory at the Genoma Centre core facility, the National Research and Innovation Institute (formerly the Biomedical Research and Study Centre) of Latvia. His work focuses on genomics, next-generation sequencing (NGS), transcriptomics, bioinformatics, and in vitro cellular models.
He specializes in the generation and analysis of large-scale omics datasets and the application of advanced sequencing technologies in biomedical research. His research combines experimental and computational approaches, including mammalian cell culture, stem cell-derived cellular models, transcriptome profiling, and bioinformatics analyses to investigate disease mechanisms, cellular senescence, and potential therapeutic interventions.
His main research interests include cellular senescence, cardiovascular biology, functional genomics, and transcriptome-based drug discovery. He speaks Latvian and English.
